Guayaquil City fought back from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw against Libertad in Serie A. Edison Mero scored twice in the second half to cancel out Libertad's early advantage and earn a share of the points.
Libertad struck twice in the opening 24 minutes, Dany Coronel opening the scoring on 18 minutes before Vilinton Branda doubled the lead. Guayaquil City responded after the break, Mero pulling one back on 62 minutes from Miller Bolaños' assist, then equalising on 78 minutes with Bolaños again providing the pass.
Guayaquil City dominated possession with 67% and had seven shots on target to Libertad's five, yet needed Mero's brace to rescue a result. Libertad's goalkeeper was kept busy with six saves as the home side pushed for a winner that never came.
