The opening set swung both ways: Noha Akugue broke in game four to lead 3-1, Granwehr broke straight back for 2-3, and after another exchange of breaks at 3-5 and 4-5 it was Noha Akugue who broke again in game 12 to close it out 7-5. The second set began with breaks in each of the first two games, before the decisive one came in game eight for 5-3.

Granwehr was not outclassed everywhere - she won 21 of 23 second serves in play and 13 of 23 second-serve points overall - but four break points converted to three settled it.
