Jastin García put Girona ahead in the 22nd minute, and Iván Jaime levelled early in the second half. Girona then pulled away with strikes from Fran Beltrán and two from Yáser Asprilla, the second of which made it 4-1 before the red card. Taisei Miyashiro reduced the deficit late on, but Izan González added a fifth in the 90th minute.
Yáser Asprilla was the standout player, scoring twice as Girona ran out comfortable winners. Girona recorded eight shots on target from their 17 attempts, while Las Palmas had five shots, all on target, yet scored only twice. Despite Las Palmas' 57% possession, the shot count shows who dominated the attacking play.
