Both sets followed the same script: Garcia Perez broke in the opening game for 1-0, only for Arseneault to break straight back at 1-1 and again at 1-3. In the first set she added a third break at 2-6 to close it out, and in the second the early double-break was enough, with Arseneault reeling off four games in a row in each set.
The decisive number was the second serve: Arseneault won 10 of 17 points behind hers (59%) and took 17 of 22 second-serve return points (77%), while Garcia Perez managed just 5 of 22 on her own. Garcia Perez hit more aces (5 to 2) and saved five of ten break points, but held serve only twice in seven service games.
