Fortaleza CEIF beat Cúcuta Deportivo 2-0 in Primera A Apertura. Richardson Rivas scored both goals, one in each half, to decide the match. Cúcuta had more of the ball and more attempts but could not find a way through.
Rivas opened the scoring in the 38th minute from Andrés Copete's assist to put Fortaleza ahead at the break. He added the second in the 71st minute, this time Kevin Adrián Balanta providing the pass, to make the game safe.
Fortaleza were clinical: they had seven shots on target from 13 attempts, while Cúcuta had 15 shots but only four on target. Cúcuta actually edged the expected goals 1.44 to 0.98, yet Fortaleza's two goals were enough.
