Jhon Solis put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute, assisted by Santiago Vivas. Alianza equalised in the 71st minute when Cristian Vergara converted a pass from Jhildrey Lasso. There were yellow cards for Jesús Figueroa (26'), Italo Montaño Cortes (37'), and a double booking in the 55th minute for Cristian Vergara and Yesid Díaz.
Alianza dominated the statistics: 56% possession, 11 total shots to Fortaleza's five, and 359 accurate passes to 278. However, they only managed three shots on target compared to Fortaleza's two, and the visitors' goalkeeper made two saves. Fortaleza were more clinical with their early chance, but Alianza's pressure eventually paid off.
