DVTK Jegesmedvek held on for a 4-3 regulation win over Debreceni Egyetemi AC, built almost entirely on a two-goal opening period that the visitors spent the rest of the night chasing. The final 4-3 margin flatters Debrecen, who scored twice in the middle period and once in the third but never led.
The hosts went up 2-0 through 20 minutes with goals at the fifth and 12th minutes, then traded in the second: Debrecen answered at 22, DVTK restored the cushion at 28, and the visitors cut it again at 34 to make it 3-2 after 40. Debrecen tied it at 44, and from there it was a matter of DVTK finding the fourth goal to close out the two points.
The decisive number is the first period: 2-0 on the scoreboard, and no period after that went better than even for either side. Debrecen outscored DVTK 2-1 in the second and 1-0 in the third but still left with nothing, which is what a cold start costs you.
