Independiente Medellín left it very late to see off Deportivo Cali, winning 1-0 in Primera A, Apertura. Diego Moreno's goal in the 90th minute settled a contest in which the home side had controlled much of the play.
The game looked set to finish goalless until Moreno struck at the death. Before that, Medellín had plenty of the ball and created the better chances, with Deportivo Cali remaining organised at the back. The only bookings came in the closing stages, with Gustavo Cuéllar, John Edwin Montaño, Agustín Martegani and Didier Moreno all shown yellow cards.
Medellín finished with 59% possession, 12 shots to nine, and an expected-goals edge of 0.97 to 0.59. Deportivo Cali's goalkeeper made three saves to keep his side in it, but Medellín's dominance finally told when it mattered most.
