Almere City FC took the points with a 4-1 win at De Graafschap, a result built on clinical finishing. The visitors had less of the ball and fewer shots, but they made their chances count, scoring three times in the final 20 minutes to leave De Graafschap with nothing to show for their territorial dominance.
Ferdy Druijf opened the scoring from Enzo Cornelisse's pass in the 28th minute, but Julian Kania levelled for De Graafschap on the stroke of half-time. The game turned in the 70th minute when Druijf struck again, this time set up by Emanuel Poku, before Cornelisse and Olivier De Nijs added late goals in the 80th and 86th minutes. Thomas Kok and Mees Hoedemakers were booked either side of half-time.
Almere's expected-goals total of 2.56 was far higher than De Graafschap's 1.32, and they created six big chances to the hosts' two, scoring four of them. De Graafschap actually had 55% possession and 21 shots to Almere's 15, but they could only put six on target. Druijf's double was the standout contribution, with Cornelisse and De Nijs both adding a goal and an assist.
