K'Andre Miller opened the scoring at 8:00 of the first, but Jason Robertson tied it four minutes later. Shayne Gostisbehere and Logan Stankoven replied before the intermission to make it 3-1. Miller struck again early in the second, and Seth Jarvis followed one minute later to push the lead to 5-1. Mikko Rantanen got Dallas on the board at 41:00, but William Carrier restored the four-goal edge at 49:00. Wyatt Johnston closed the scoring in the final minute.
Miller's two-goal night — his first at 8:00 of the first, his second at 26:00 of the second — gave Carolina early control. Andrei Svechnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers each recorded two assists as the Hurricanes spread the scoring across eight different point-getters.
