New York City FC earned a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field, with two first-half and second-half goals giving them a comfortable lead before a late Crew consolation. Nicolás Fernández opened the scoring in the 28th minute, and Agustin Ojeda doubled the advantage on the hour mark.
Fernández struck first to put the visitors ahead, and the lead grew when Ojeda finished from Talles Magno's assist in the 70th minute. Columbus pulled one back in the 90th minute through an own goal, but it was too late to change the result.
