Santiago Rodríguez put Columbus ahead in the 22nd minute. Gonzalo Tapia doubled the lead in the 81st minute from Brais Méndez's pass, and Taha Habroune made it 3-0 in the 90th after Tapia turned provider.
The underlying numbers were starkly in Colorado's favour on the ball — 73% possession and 56 accurate passes to Columbus's 21 — yet they mustered only one shot. Columbus, with two total shots and an expected-goals figure of 0.08, still found the net three times.
