Sorana Cîrstea came from a set down to beat Anna Kalinskaya 6-7, 6-1, 5-0 in Cincinnati. After dropping the opener in a tie-break, she changed the match by breaking three times in the second set and then rolling through the decider.
The opening set was close, with breaks exchanged at 4-2, 4-3, 5-3 and 5-4 before Kalinskaya took the tie-break. Cîrstea answered by breaking at 2-1, 4-1 and 6-1 to win the second 6-1, then broke twice in the third at 2-0 and 4-0 to finish 5-0.
Cîrstea finished with four aces to Kalinskaya's zero and won 76% of first-serve points (19/25) to Kalinskaya's 71% (24/34). Kalinskaya won more total points (46-36), but Cîrstea's first-serve edge carried her through the decisive sets.
