Krehl scored from Daniel Mangarov's assist to put the visitors ahead. Inter Miami pushed for an equaliser, registering 15 shots to Chattanooga's 14, and both goalkeepers made five saves. Mattias Hanchard had been shown the first booking in the 23rd minute, with four more yellow cards to follow.
Inter Miami dominated possession with 64% and completed 553 accurate passes to Chattanooga's 277. Yet Chattanooga finished with the higher expected-goals total, 1.49 to 1.21, and scored one of their three big chances; Inter Miami, who missed all three of theirs, had no reward.
