Charlotte Independence beat One Knoxville SC 3-1 in USL League One. Two goals from Souaibou Marou either side of half-time put the home side in charge, and Jordan Skelton’s third made the game safe before Knoxville replied.
Marou opened the scoring in the 43rd minute and struck again two minutes after the restart, with Jon Bakero assisting both. Skelton added a third in the 76th minute, and Denis Krioutchenkov pulled one back for Knoxville three minutes later. The early second-half goal was the decisive moment.
Marou’s brace was the standout contribution. Charlotte attempted 17 shots to Knoxville’s seven and put seven on target to four, despite having slightly less possession (48%) than the visitors (52%).
