Sakuragawa opened the scoring in the 20th minute with Hayato Okuda providing the assist. He added his second in the 68th minute to double Cerezo's lead. Jackson Irvine was booked in the 42nd minute as the game remained tight.
Kashiwa Shaded possession at 51% and had five shots on target to Cerezo's three, but Cerezo's goalkeeper made five saves. Kashiwa's keeper made just one save, underlining how clinical the home side were. Sakuragawa's brace was the difference.
