Karen Khachanov beat Román Burruchaga 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 at the US Open. He took control through his serve and return, converting six of six break points and never facing one on his own delivery.
Khachanov took the opener after an early break in game 2, then ran through the second set with breaks in games 1, 3 and 5 for a bagel. He closed out the third with further breaks in games 3, 5 and 7.
The serving gap was decisive: Khachanov won 84% of first-serve points and 61% on second, finishing with four aces and 46 service points won. Burruchaga, by contrast, won just 29 service points and saved none of the six break points he faced.
