Bristol Rovers beat Colchester United 2-0 in League Two. Thomas James put them ahead on 27 minutes and Ellis Harrison added a second in the 90th minute. Rovers created far more, with 24 shots to Colchester's 11.
James opened the scoring midway through the first half, and Harrison settled the contest in the final minute, assisted by Tommy Leigh. Colchester had 51% of the ball but rarely threatened, managing only one shot on target all game.
Rovers' shot count was the story: eight efforts on target, forcing the Colchester keeper into six saves. The visitors did not create a big chance, while Rovers had two. Four bookings, for Thomas James, Jack Tucker, Tommy Leigh and Richard Smallwood, kept the game scrappy.
