Cruzeiro took the points with a 3-1 win over Athletico in Brasileiro Série A. After a tight first half, they pulled clear with two goals in the final twenty minutes.
Matheus Pereira put Cruzeiro ahead in the 30th minute after good work from Gerson, but João Cruz levelled for Athletico in the 45th. Lucas Romero restored the home side's lead in the 71st minute, and Kaio Jorge added the third on 82 to settle it.
The home side controlled the game, holding 61% possession and creating four big chances to Athletico's one. Their expected goals of 3.04 reflected that dominance, and although Athletico had more shots on target, seven to six, Cruzeiro were the more clinical side.
