Athletic Club left Belo Horizonte with all three points after a 3-1 win over América Mineiro in the Brasileiro Série B. The visitors scored three times in a 21-minute spell either side of half-time, and despite América having more of the ball and chances, Athletic were ruthless in front of goal.
Kauan Rodrigues da Silva put Athletic ahead on 45 minutes with Maswel Ananias Silva credited with the assist. Luca Sosa doubled the lead on 52 minutes, and Carlinhos added a third on 66 with Jota providing the pass. Gonzalo Mastriani pulled one back for América on 86 minutes, assisted by Guilherme Parede.
América had more of the play – 52% possession and 21 shots to Athletic's 14 – but the visitors were far more clinical, scoring three times from their six shots on target. Athletic's goalkeeper made five saves, and despite América's expected-goals advantage (1.90 to 1.39), Mastriani's late strike proved only a consolation.
