Argentinos Juniors cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Estudiantes de Río Cuarto in the Superliga, dominating from start to finish. They controlled 70% of possession and outshot their opponents 17 to 12, with nine efforts on target to Estudiantes' four.
Gastón Verón opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, and Matías Giménez doubled the lead in the 70th minute after a pass from Tomás Molina. Hernán López wrapped things up with a third goal two minutes from time, making sure of the win.
Argentinos created four big chances and converted three, while Estudiantes managed just one big chance, which they missed. The home side's expected goals (2.44) far exceeded the visitors' 0.72, and despite five saves from the Estudiantes goalkeeper, they could not prevent the defeat.
