TSG Hoffenheim won 4-0 at Erzgebirge Aue in their DFB Pokal first-round tie, taking control with two goals inside the opening 17 minutes. Patrick Wimmer scored twice and assisted the second as the visitors put the result beyond doubt before half-time.
Wimmer opened the scoring on six minutes, with Nathan De Cat providing the assist, and then turned provider for Wouter Burger's second on 17 minutes. He added his second of the game on the stroke of half-time, and Max Moerstedt completed the scoring on 63 minutes from Bambase Conte's assist. Aue's Maxim Burghardt was booked on 42 minutes.
Hoffenheim's dominance was comprehensive: 64% possession, 26 shots to four, and 15 corners to two. Aue failed to register a shot on target, and their goalkeeper made six saves as Hoffenheim scored four of their five big chances. Wimmer's two goals and an assist were the standout individual contribution.
