Zamalek SC beat AS Port 2-1 in the first qualifying round of the CAF Champions League. The visitors took control early with two goals in the opening 37 minutes and held on after AS Port scored late.
Mohamed Shehata put Zamalek ahead in the 5th minute. Chico Banza made it 2-0 in the 37th. AS Port reduced the arrears in the 82nd minute but did not find an equaliser.
The early goals from Shehata and Banza gave Zamalek the cushion they needed. AS Port’s late reply was their only goal of the match as Zamalek took the win away from home.
