York City beat Exeter City 2-1 in League Two. Alex Newby's early goal and Jovan Malcolm's second-half strike put York in control, and although Exeter pulled one back, York held on.
Newby opened the scoring in the seventh minute, converting Harry Boyes' assist. Boyes turned provider again for Malcolm in the 76th minute to make it 2-0.
York controlled the match with 68% possession and 554 accurate passes to Exeter's 229. They also had six shots on target and scored both of their big chances, while Exeter had only two shots on target and missed their one big chance.
