Wong C. cruised past Johnson S. 6-2, 6-4 in the ATP Challenger Bloomfield Hills first round, dominating with a flawless serving display and converting all three break points faced. The eighth-seeded American never faced a break point and won 91% of his first-serve points, while Johnson could not save any of the three break chances he offered.
Wong seized control immediately, breaking Johnson in the opening game of the first set at 0-1, then again in the fifth game at 1-4 to take the set. The second set followed a similar pattern: another early break at 0-1, and Wong held serve the rest of the way, closing out the match without facing a break point in either set.
The key difference was Wong's efficiency on return and his second serve. He converted all three break points (two in the first set, one in the second), while Johnson went 0-for-3. Wong also won 71% of points on his second serve, compared to Johnson's 40%, and finished with a 6-6 ace count.
