Atlético Mineiro beat Vitória 2-1 in the Brasileiro Série A. They had the better of the play, with 61% possession and more shots, and led through goals either side of half-time before Vitória made it a nervous finish.
Thiago Borbas put Atlético ahead on 25 minutes, converting from Reinier's assist. Reinier doubled the lead on 63 minutes, and Erick's strike for Vitória on 87 minutes proved only a consolation.
Reinier was the standout figure, setting up the first and scoring the second. The home side finished with 18 shots to 14 and had three big chances to Vitória's none, while the away goalkeeper made six saves to limit the damage.
