Atlético Madrid and Villarreal shared the points in a 2-2 draw in LaLiga. Marc Pubill gave the hosts the lead, but Villarreal fought back to go in front before Atlético salvaged a result.
Pubill scored in the 59th minute, with Giuliano Simeone providing the assist. Gerard Moreno equalised in the 66th minute, and Georges Mikautadze put Villarreal ahead in the 78th. Robin Le Normand had been sent off for Atlético two minutes earlier, so the home side had to find an equaliser with ten men.
Villarreal created the clearer chances, posting an expected goals figure of 3.60 to Atlético's 0.71 and missing four big chances. Atlético, however, had 19 shots to Villarreal's 13 and claimed a point that felt hard-earned rather than lucky.
