Ventforet Kofu took the points at Montedio Yamagata with a 2-1 win, built on a fast start. Two goals inside the opening quarter of an hour gave them a cushion that Yamagata could not fully erase.
Kojiro Yasuda opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and Yamato Naito doubled the lead ten minutes later. Junya Takahashi pulled one back for the hosts in the 67th minute, but Kofu held on to secure the away victory.
The early double proved decisive, and Yamagata's late response was not enough. Hikaru Endo and Yukito Murakami were both booked, while Yamagata could not find an equaliser after Takahashi's goal.
