Vélez Sarsfield overturned an early deficit to beat Talleres 3-1, scoring twice in the second half to seal a convincing win. Talleres had taken the lead through Ronaldo Martinez, but Vélez equalised just before the break and took control after the interval.
Ronaldo Martinez put Talleres ahead in the 27th minute, finishing from Timoteo Chamorro's assist. But Vélez responded quickly: Rodrigo Aliendro levelled from Elías Gómez's pass on the stroke of half-time. Thiago Silveor fired Vélez in front in the 79th minute, and a late goal in stoppage time completed the scoring.
Talleres dominated possession (63%) and had 20 shots to Vélez's 9, but the visitors were far more clinical, converting three of their three big chances. Vélez goalkeeper made five saves, while Talleres managed only two, underlining how despite controlling the game, the home side could not find the cutting edge.
