Vélez Sarsfield and Defensa y Justicia drew 1-1 in the Superliga. Manuel Lanzini gave Vélez an early lead, but Leandro Fernández's late equaliser earned Defensa a point.
Lanzini scored in the fourth minute from Matías Pellegrini's assist. Defensa pressed throughout the second half and finally levelled in the 79th minute, Fernández finishing from Juan Manuel Gutiérrez's pass.
The statistics show Defensa had more of the play: 20 shots to Vélez's ten, six on target to three, and a higher expected-goals total of 1.29 against 0.85. Despite that domination, Vélez held on for the draw.
