The opening set was a trade of breaks early, with Valdmannova going 2-0 ahead before Pawlikowska levelled at 2-1. Valdmannova then broke again in game six for 4-2 and closed out the set 6-3. In the second set, the only break came in game three, handing Valdmannova a 2-1 lead that she protected to the end.
The numbers were closer than the scoreline suggests: Valdmannova won just one more service point than her opponent, 33-32, while Pawlikowska landed 79% of first serves.
