In a tight first set, Collignon broke immediately (1-0), but Vacherot answered back at 3-3, forcing a tiebreak that Collignon won 7-6. The second set swung on a single break for Vacherot at 3-4, and he held to level the match at one set apiece. The decider stayed on serve until the final game, where Collignon broke at 7-5 to seal the win.
