Agustin Arce opened the scoring in the 18th minute from Lucas Assadi's assist, and Eduardo Vargas doubled the lead eight minutes later after Charles Aránguiz turned provider. Palestino's Nelson Da Silva pulled one back in the 78th minute, but Universidad de Chile managed the closing stages without further alarm. Enzo Roco and Dylan Glaby were booked in the 41st and 75th minutes respectively.
The numbers underline the home side's control: Universidad de Chile had 53% possession, won the corner count 5-4 and completed 348 accurate passes to Palestino's 280. The visitors' goalkeeper made nine saves to keep the score respectable, while Universidad de Chile's goalkeeper needed only one.
