Union Omaha and New York Cosmos shared the points in a 1-1 draw in USL League One, with goals either side of the half-hour mark. Marlon Vargas gave the home side the lead after nine minutes, and Sebastian Guenzatti levelled for the visitors in the 35th. The game stayed deadlocked from there, leaving both sides with a point.
Vargas finished from Laurence Thomas Wootton's assist to put Union Omaha ahead early on. Guenzatti equalised from Ajmeer Spengler's pass, and that was the end of the scoring. The match was punctuated by six yellow cards, with bookings arriving throughout the afternoon.
New York Cosmos had the better of the chances, taking 13 shots to Union Omaha's six and creating the only big chance of the game, which Guenzatti scored. Union Omaha controlled possession with 56% and completed 422 passes, but the Cosmos' two saves and Union Omaha's two saves kept the score level.
