Echargui M. defeated Ugo Carabelli C. 6-2, 5-0 in the Cancun Men Singles match, leaning on a return game Carabelli could not handle. Echargui converted five break points and won 58% of first-serve return points, while Carabelli ended without winning a service game.
The opener swung early: Echargui broke in game two (0-2), Carabelli hit back (1-2), and another Echargui break (1-3) was cut to 2-3 before Echargui closed with three games in a row for 6-2. In the second set, Echargui moved ahead with breaks to 0-2 and 0-4, and the set finished 5-0 in his favour.
The standout number was Echargui’s return work: 25 receiver points won to Carabelli’s 17, with 58% success against the first serve. He was also more effective on his own first serve, winning 65% of those points to Carabelli’s 42%, and saved two of the four break points he faced.
