Tranmere Rovers beat Shrewsbury Town 2-0 in League Two, taking the points with a goal in each half. Jordan Davies opened the scoring in the 35th minute and Charlie Whitaker doubled the lead after 63 minutes. Shrewsbury had more of the ball and more shots but could not turn their pressure into goals.
Davies struck from Bobby Faulkner's assist, and Whitaker's goal came from Joe Ironside's pass. Shrewsbury responded after the break and pushed for a way back, but Tranmere held firm and saw the game out comfortably. The two goals arrived at key moments and gave the home side a cushion they never looked like surrendering.
Shrewsbury dominated the numbers, with 55% possession and 15 shots to Tranmere's 7, yet Tranmere were clinical, scoring twice from four shots on target. Shrewsbury created two big chances but missed both, while Tranmere scored their one big chance. Bookings went to Joel Senior, Josh Davison, Charlie Whitaker, Isaac England and Zane Okoro.
