Despite having less of the ball (45% possession), the home side created more total chances (11 shots to eight) and a higher expected goals total (1.68 to 1.37), making their narrow victory a fair reflection of the attacking threat they carried.
The scoring started on 41 minutes when Alex Monis put Connecticut ahead. Dekwon Barrow levelled for Toronto on the hour, only for Miklos Barnabas Tanyi to restore the home lead six minutes later. Jahmarie Nolan again pulled Toronto level at 2-2 on 71 minutes, but Patrick Paixão struck the decisive goal in the 83rd minute from Lukas Kamrath's assist to secure the win. Paixão's winner was the difference, but Connecticut's willingness to keep pushing forward after twice being pegged back was key. They missed one big chance but converted two of their three clear openings, while Toronto scored both of their big chances – yet it was Connecticut who took the spoils.
