Toluca left it late to beat Querétaro 2-1, with Federico Viñas scoring in the 90th minute after the hosts had cancelled out Helinho's opener. Querétaro played more than an hour with ten men after Diego Barbosa was sent off in the 31st minute, yet still found a way to level before Toluca struck at the death.
Helinho put Toluca ahead in the 65th minute, and the game seemed to be slipping away from Querétaro until Santiago Homenchenko equalised in the 79th minute. But just as a draw looked likely, Viñas popped up in the 90th minute to win it for the visitors.
Querétaro shaded the contest on paper, with 51% possession, 18 shots to 17 and a slightly higher expected-goals total of 1.70 to 1.47. Yet Toluca were just as clinical, and the difference was Viñas' late finish.
