Salomón Rodríguez scored twice as Montevideo City Torque edged Tigre 2-1 in a frantic first half of their CONMEBOL Sudamericana round-of-16 tie. Nahuel Banegas was sent off in the 45th minute, the same minute Rodríguez grabbed his second.
Rodríguez opened the scoring on 39 minutes, converting Franco Pizzichillo's assist. Valentin Moreno levelled for Tigre two minutes later, but Rodríguez struck again on the stroke of half-time to restore the home side's lead.
Tigre controlled possession with 57% and had more shots (15 to 11), yet Montevideo City Torque created the better chances, posting 1.35 expected goals to Tigre's 0.61. The home side also had more shots on target, four to three, and took the points despite ceding the run of play.
