Tauson broke in the opening game and led 1-0, but Bartunkova answered at 2-2 and again at 3-5 to take the first set 6-3. In the second set Bartunkova broke twice to lead 3-0; Tauson pulled level at 3-3, but a decisive Bartunkova break at 3-4 set up the close-out at 6-4.
The standout edge came from Bartunkova's serve: she hit seven aces, won 32 service points to Tauson's 26, and was far more reliable when facing pressure. Tauson put 60 percent of first serves in but won only 18 of 33 points behind them, while double-faulting six times.
