Porin Ässät controlled from the opening frame and finished a 5-1 regulation win over Tampereen Ilves in Liiga. Two first-period goals gave the hosts a cushion they never surrendered, and a three-goal lead through two periods allowed them to manage the game on their terms.
Sakari Kostilainen opened the scoring at 12:00, and Petteri Riihinen doubled the lead at 18:00 with Cameron Hillis drawing the assist. Riihinen struck again at 35:00 from Alexandre Doucet to make it 3-0 after two. The hosts then padded the margin with goals from Doucet at 41:00 and Carl Klingberg at 53:00, before Luke Henman's 58:00 consolation for Ilves set the final score.
Riihinen's two goals powered the attack, but Doucet was the engine with one goal and two assists — setting up both Riihinen's second and Klingberg's late marker. Ässät's 5-1 result was built on that depth scoring and an early lead that never allowed Ilves to establish a foothold.
