Sun F. came from a set down to beat Tung-Lin Wu 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 in Zhangjiagang, taking the deciding set in a tie-break. Sun won despite Wu's 15 aces and despite losing the total points count 112-109. The difference was his work under pressure: he saved 9 of 10 break points and did not double fault.
Wu broke to open the match, but Sun levelled the first set and forced a tie-break, which Wu took. Sun then struck in game 10 of the second set to level the match at 6-4. The final set saw no breaks of serve, and Sun took the tie-break to close it out.
Sun's 90% break-point saving was the standout number: he faced ten break points across the match and conceded just once. Wu, by contrast, saved only one of three break points he faced. Those swings decided a match that otherwise stayed extraordinarily close.
