In the opening set Ogura broke in game five at 2-3, only for Sumizawa to strike straight back in game six at 3-3; the set went to a tie-break, which Ogura took. The second was even more volatile: Sumizawa broke in the first game at 1-0, Ogura levelled in game four at 2-2, Sumizawa broke again in game five at 3-2, and Ogura's break in game ten at 5-5 dragged the set into another tie-break.
