Robert Strombachs edged Pavlos Tsitsipas 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 in Szczecin, turning a match of the finest margins into a one-sided finish. The first two sets went to tie-breaks and were split, before Strombachs pulled clear with two breaks in the decider.
The opening set was a break-fest: Strombachs broke at 1-0, 2-3, 4-3 and 5-4, Tsitsipas hit back at 1-1, 1-3 and 4-4, and the Greek took the tie-break. The second set settled down, with Tsitsipas breaking at 0-2 and Strombachs replying at 1-2 before winning the tie-break. In the third, breaks at 3-1 and 5-1 finished it.
The overall numbers were close to level: 79 total points to 77, 52 service points won to 49, and both players converted two break points while neither saved a single one (0/2 each). Tsitsipas actually served more aces, 7 to 4, and won a higher share of first-serve points (78% to 75%), so Strombachs's win came from the moments, not from statistical superiority.
