Kimberly Quevedo beat Sara Sorribes Tormo 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 in Barranquilla, turning a chaotic, break-filled contest around with a one-sided decider. Neither player held with any comfort — 16 breaks of serve were traded across the three sets.
The opener followed serve only in name: Sorribes Tormo broke to lead 0-1, the pair swapped breaks through 2-2, 2-3 and 3-3, and the Spaniard's break at 5-6 closed the set. The second set ran the same pattern, with Quevedo breaking at 4-4, being broken back at 4-5, then breaking at 5-5 and again at 7-5 to level the match.
