Benfica beat Estoril Praia 2-1 in the Primeira Liga, goals from Vangelis Pavlidis and Clément Lenglet either side of half-time proving decisive. Yanis Begraoui pulled one back for the visitors with eight minutes remaining, but Benfica saw the game out.
Pavlidis opened the scoring on 40 minutes, and Lenglet doubled the lead from Tomás Araújo's assist just after the restart. That second goal gave Benfica control, and although Begraoui, assisted by Fernando Medrano, reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute, Estoril could not find an equaliser.
Benfica dominated, with 66% possession, 25 shots to four and an expected-goals advantage of 2.03 to 0.36. Estoril's goalkeeper made six saves, but Benfica's eight shots on target were enough to secure the win.
