Oliynykova O. beat Sherif M. 6-3, 6-4 in Monterrey, sealed by a break in the final game of each set. She converted four of her eleven break-point chances, while Sherif managed just one break from three opportunities.
Oliynykova broke in the first game of the opening set and added a second break in game nine to close it out 6-3. Sherif hit back early in set two, but Oliynykova levelled immediately in game two and then broke again in game ten to take the match 6-4.
Oliynykova won the battle of the return, finishing with 29 return points won to Sherif's 24, and saved two of three break points against her serve. Sherif posted the higher first-serve percentage and more aces, yet Oliynykova's superior break conversions proved decisive.
