Derry City and Shamrock Rovers played out a breathless 3-3 draw in the Premier Division, the hosts letting a two-goal lead slip after racing into a 3-1 advantage inside 33 minutes. Rovers' late rally earned them a share of the points.
Ellis Chapman put Derry ahead after two minutes, finishing from Michael Duffy, and Michael Duffy doubled the lead from Darragh Burns' pass on 16. Michael Noonan pulled one back for Rovers on 28, but Chapman's second on 33, again assisted by Duffy, made it 3-1. Graham Burke's 72nd-minute strike and Dylan Watts' equaliser ten minutes later, both set up by William Fitzgerald, completed the comeback.
Derry City had 17 shots to Shamrock Rovers' six and a higher expected-goals mark (1.10 to 0.89), yet Rovers scored two of their three big chances to Derry's one. The visitors also edged possession with 55% and completed 395 accurate passes to 307, showing they had enough of the ball to punish the hosts' wastefulness.
