Atlético Madrid beat Sevilla 3-1 in LaLiga after taking a three-goal lead inside the first 33 minutes. Alejandro Baena scored twice, Ademola Lookman added another, and Sevilla could only manage a late consolation.
Baena put Atlético ahead in the fourth minute from Kang-in Lee’s pass, and Lookman doubled the lead in the 26th with Pablo Barrios supplying the assist. Baena made it 0-3 seven minutes later, this time Marcos Llorente providing the pass, before Miguel Ángel Sierra Ortega pulled a goal back for Sevilla in the 66th minute from Robbie Ure’s assist.
Baena’s brace stood out, though the stats show Sevilla carried plenty of threat: they had 21 shots to Atlético’s 12 and almost matched their expected goals (0.95 to 0.93). Possession was also with the visitors (58%), and both sides managed five shots on target. Bookings went to Marcos Llorente before half-time and Isaac Romero, Gabriel Suazo and Marc Pubill in the closing stages.
