Brendan Krueger put Sarasota ahead on 51 minutes from Anderson Rosa's assist, before Rosa scored the second on 77 from Ethan Bryant's setup. Lamin Jawneh pulled one back for New York on 83, but the home side could not find an equaliser.
New York had more attempts than Sarasota, five to two, and won the corner count 5-2, but the visitors made the key moments count. Anderson Rosa was central to the win with a goal and the assist for the opener, as Sarasota controlled 55% of possession.
